EAE (LINC) Design, Development and Support
Offshore Support of Legacy EAE (LINC) Applications
Since 1997 BTG ihas been using a high speed communications channel from the BTG facility in Riga into the Unisys worldwide network to enable remote support of several key internal Unisys IT applications by BTG staff (UFSS, SRMS, DREAMS, GLOBILL, CALCS, TRIPS, EXPO). This has resulted in significant cost savings to Unisys, allowed full time IT staff to work on important new design and development projects, and has provided additional options for continued support of Unisys legacy systems. We started with a high-speed leased line and since 2000 BTG has been using Internet VPNs, a cost effective method for providing secure and efficient transmission of data with the client site.
AB Suite & EAE (LINC) Product Testing
BTG was a Unisys field test site for the first releases of AB Suite and EAE (LINC) on Windows and UNIX (SUN) platforms. We also successfully migrated our LINC based retail banking application software from A series to UNIX and to Windows platforms.
BTG staff provided contract services to the Unisys software-testing group in Roseville, Minnesota, which was responsible for testing of the first release of EAE (LINC) on Windows. In addition to developing test plans and test scripts, BTG's banking software code was used to help test this new EAE (LINC) software release.
A BTG testing team assisted Unisys' ACUS (Australia Center for Unisys Software) group, which is responsible for development and support of Unisys LINC products. The Riga team was responsible for running tests, modifying test scripts (Winrunner), analyzing results, and reporting problems. They also completed Year 2000 testing of LDA versions 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 on schedule and enhanced the automated test bed environment for the Windows NT platform, including modification and adaptation of UNIX test scripts and development of new tests using Winrunner. The duration of this project was 3 years.
AB Suite migration
BTG has significant experience in EAE to AB Suite migration. We
first migrated our SBS banking system with BTG banking system from EAE
to AB Suite. Based on this experience we developed proposal and
schedule for Schoolmax AB Suite migration.
The primary Schoolmax migration work was done in 5 months as an
offshore project connecting remotely to both current EAE and new ABSuite
servers. Additional external modules were upgraded onsite later. The
whole migration process was managed and conducted by BTG with Harris and
UNISYS support.
The main steps in Schoolmax AB Suite conversion were:
- BTG performed AB Suite server installation, system
migration, testing and necessary code adjustments in 2009
-
Existing EAE 3.2 application converted to AB Suite
version 2.0 IC1261
- Intermediate EAE 3.3 version used transferring from
EAE 3.2 to AB Suite Migration database
-
Oracle database was converted to MSSQL database
-
External programs adjusted to work with MSSQL database
-
School and Individual Scheduler converted from
MicroFocus COBOL NetExpress 4.1 to Fujitsu NetCOBOL for .NET V4.0 and
adjusted to MSSQL database
-
Existing graphical interfaces re-built using new
ABSuite-specific tool developed by IEG (IB.NET)
- Report building tool (ReportMAX) adjusted for MSSQL
database
-
Specific Web interface modules created in ASP
(iSeries) adjusted to work with AB Suite
-
Depcon forms loaded into EOM and improved
-
Regular communications with Unisys on all conversion
problems
-
Separate servers installed for different 2.0 patch
releases
-
Different system versions created where
application/database is located on the same or separate servers
-
Schoolmax ABSuite version successfully installed for 7
users with other upgrades in progress
